Natural stones are products of nature, & as such no two pieces are exactly alike. Variation in colour, texture and veining are natural characteristics.

For estimates on natural stone benchtops or applications, we will require the full name, block number, & slab number(s) if applicable of the natural stone you have selected for your job, along with the company name of the supplier where you have made your selection.

Natural Stone – Everyday Care

Use lukewarm water and a pH- neutral cleaner for regular cleaning. To avoid streaks, it is recommended to wipe the surface with a damp chamois. In the event of a spill, clean up the area immediately and with care to prevent it from spreading. After cleaning the spill, thoroughly rinse it with water to remove any residue.

Natural Stone Cleaning Products

Abrasive cleaners such as powders or pastes like Jiff or Gumption, should be avoided as they can potentially scratch the stone.

Periodic Maintenance of Natural Stone

It is recommend applying a high-quality saturation sealer annually for granite, dolomite and quartzite surfaces. For marble or limestone, more frequent sealing may be necessary. For specific guidance on the required frequency of sealing, Lavistone recommends consulting your stonemason or a stone specialist for personalised advice.

Natural Stone Cladding & Flooring

Stone cladding and flooring should be cleaned regularly with a dry dust mop. Sand and dirt can cause damage to the stone surface due to their abrasiveness.

Natural Stone Essential Care Tips

Using coasters under all glasses is ideal, especially for alcoholic drinks, lemon, wine, and orange juice, as these high-acid products can damage the stone.
Place mats should be used when placing hot cookware on the stone surface, as sudden and extreme temperature changes can cause permanent damage to benchtops.
Always use a chopping board when cutting.
Take care with heavy pots and pans, as dropping them on a natural stone surface can cause damage.
